Long Island, NY — Saturday,  January 9th,  JFA Founder and President Jeff Fannell will join former NY Giants football player Dave Thomas (New York Criminal Court), Judge Leonor Gerald and a number of other esteemed guest panelist at Adelphi University for the 8th Annual Teen Leadership Summit sponsored by the Nassau County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.  Jeff will be speaking to student attendees in multiple sessions focused on both the topics of sports and law.

“Teens with Courage to Conquer”, is the theme for the JJNC teen leadership summit this year.  The event is targeted to young people at the formative ages of 14-18 years old where they may be empowered to script and take ownership of their future. We are challenging our young people to be proactive and think about their future now while creating a structured plan of action that consists of clear, concise goals and initiatives ultimately leading to their success.  There are a plethora of negative external influences affecting our teens today and present in their environments making it difficult for them to succeed and have a bright future.  Social media has grown immensely and has the power to expose our youth to many negative images and ideas contributing to developmental issues such as low self esteem, poor health and in some instances, violent behavior.  The goal of JJNC is to counteract those negative influences while making positive deposits into their lives early on by promoting positive self image while equipping them with key organizational and time management skills as well as increasing their financial literacy.

The purpose of this summit continues to be to provide a forum for multi-ethnic youths who come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, to interact with and engage each other in a spirited and empowering setting.  It is a way for the Nassau County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. to reach out to the youth in the community who do not have the opportunity or means to be exposed to this type of hands on, in-house training in such an intimate setting.  This is an integral part of the day and  resources are pooled together, gathering some of the most talented individuals in their respective industries in efforts to educate future generations of successful leaders and help young people in becoming positive active role models for their peers.
